VITO is an independent research centre that conducts client-driven projects and develops innovative solutions for sustainability in chemistry, environment, materials, food, and energy. Its GEO team specialises in subsurface characterisation to aid the green energy transition. VITO’s pioneering work includes building Flanders’ first deep geothermal plant, advancing geothermal energy deployment regionally and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
VITO will coordinate the project. Additionally, VITO will be involved in the development of the Risk Management toolbox, which aims at more effective placement of geothermal wells in doublet systems to maximise heat production while minimising the risk of induced seismicity. VITO is also the owner of the VITO geothermal site in Mol (Belgium), where the URGENT solutions will be demonstrated.

The AGH University of Krakow is a modern university that actively participates in fostering a knowledge-based society and creating innovative technologies. Our education offer includes 70 fields of study. The research activities span the fields of technical sciences, natural sciences, Earth sciences, and social sciences, with an emphasis on the current priorities of the economy and business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
AGH will be involved in building a new well placement optimisation framework with feedback between 3D reservoir simulation and the ML optimisation routine. We are the coordinator for 2D seismic surveys and data interpretation for the Polish test site in Konin, performed as part of the project. We will be leading the socio-economic implications of the URGENT concept on the local, national, and EU levels.

Euroquality is a consulting company specialised in European projects setting up and management. Since 1997, Euroquality has supported technological and methodological innovation within all organisations active in R&D (SMEs, industries, research centres, NGOs, universities, etc.). Euroquality has supported the consortium in the setting up of the URGENT proposal.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are the leading the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities. We will lead those activities to reach the most significant possible audience, promote Project Results across external stakeholders and the general audience, and maximise its impacts and visibility across Europe and beyond. We will also support the coordinator in the management of the URGENT project.

Innoseis Sensor Technologies, the creator of the widely adopted Quantum nodal system, develops industry-leading seismic sensing solutions. Based in Amsterdam and spun off from the National Institute of Subatomic Physics, Innoseis ST leverages connections to fundamental physics research to build cutting-edge sensing products, with a focus on semiconductor and low-power technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Low-impact geothermal exploration in urban environments requires small, sensitive and smart seismic receivers. In URGENT we are responsible for the development of these novel seismic receivers. These will be based on the highly sensitive microchip accelerometers and connected through Innoseis ST’s low-power wireless communication platform.

MOL Group, headquartered in Budapest, Hungary, is a leading oil and gas corporation in Central Eastern Europe with operations in over 30 countries and 25,000 employees. With 80 years of experience in hydrocarbon exploration and production, we also holds four geothermal exploration licenses in Hungary, aiming to produce energy through thermal water production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are leading the Batta test site in one of our geothermal license areas for a 2D seismic survey using novel acquisition technologies, including MEMS-based seismic receivers and fully electronic eVibes developed by URGENT. Our seismic team will design the geometry with fewer source and receiver points than usual, organise field operations, and support the process.
